The weather station provides an automatic control of a clear sky. It is essential for automated remote observatories.

Features:

  • Cloud control sensor.
  • Temperature sensor of the environment.
  • Automatic heating of the upper surface during cold seasons.

Unlike other weather stations, we abandoned the rain sensor. Generally, its functionality is overlapped by a cloud sensor. One of the significant improvements in our weather station is the heated upper flat surface. It is very necessary during cold seasons, when precipitations in the form of snow are present. Often, the snowfall requires cleaning of the cloud sensor. However, it’s not always possible, especially if it is a remote observatory. In our weather station, heating provides cleaning of the entire upper surface, including the sky sensor. The weather station was tested in real conditions and throughout the winter there was no need in cleaning it, despite the heavy precipitation in the form of snow.

Through the photos we can see what happens with the weather station in the winter. We set up two weather stations, one of them was ours and the other one was the AAG weather station. You can clearly see that the sky sensor in our weather station is open and the station is working. Whereas in AAG weather station, only the rain sensor is located in the centre, when the sky sensor is below, under the snow. Consequently, it brings out clouds, and not a clear weather. In the end, it must be cleaned out from snow. If we are talking about a remote observatory, it is not always possible.
